Which Model Do You Need?

Before you order be sure you are choosing the correct model for your vehicle.

A couple things to check:

  • 1. Measure the distance from the very back of the hitch to the center of the receiver pin hole. This will determine which model to choose.
  • 2. Check to make sure the safety chain hooks don’t protrude further back than the back of the hitch tube.
  • 3. Check to make sure there is no support brace wider than the width of very back collar of the hitch to the receiver hole to interfere sliding the Hitch Hugger forward.

Model 2040

Model 2040 shown which has holes for both 1 ½” and 2 ½” hitch pin holes (if space allows for the 1 ½” requirement).

This model requires a clear space from end of hitch, forward 3 ¼ inches. If you do not have enough room forward, then you need to go with the Model 2015 for the 1 ½” hole inset. This is basically the same Hitch Hugger without the front hole, making the side plates shorter.
